Christmas-themed two-tier cake
This is my first attempt at a cake consisting of more than one tier! It is also my first cake make from scratch. I was nervous, but it turned out really well and my family seemed to enjoy it.
When I baked the cake, I had not decided yet what kind of cake I was going to make, so I chose to tint one layer purple (my favorite color) to see how it would turn out. I think red and green would look great if I make another Christmas cake.

Fondant birthday cake with stars
This is my final cake / a birthday cake I finished in the final night of my fondant cake class. I am very proud of this cake and it also tasted delicious! I would like to make another one similar to this with my checkerboard cake pan. I think that will look nice.
Fondant and gum paste flowers
I have been so busy lately that I have not had time to post what I have been doing in my cake class! These are the flowers that I made over the last three weeks. These were very fun to make and some of them were surprisingly very easy! I am considering making some cupcakes for springtime with the daisies! I will post those when I make them!

Fondant and gum paste bow
I started my third set of cake decorating class on Wednesday. In this class I will learn how to make a bunch of different types of fondant and gum paste flowers and how to put fondant on a cake! I am really excited. Last night I learned how to make this bow! I plan on saving it and putting it on my final cake in a few weeks. Or, I might make a blue or red one for my final cake. I have already been brainstorming how I want my final cake to look like, because I am considering making it a birthday cake, and I don't think he would be fond of a hot pink bow!

Halloween-themed cupcakes!
These are Halloween-themed cupcakes I made for two separate Halloween parties! The orange/white/yellow ones were candy corn themed, the black/orange/white ones were just basic Halloween themed, and the purple/green/black ones were monster themed!

Pink swirly cupcakes
Today I made these pink swirly cupcakes for a breast cancer awareness event. I don't usually ice cupcakes this way, but since I learned how to do it in my cake decorating class, I decided to try it with these cupcakes. I think it turned out pretty well! The cupcakes themselves are strawberry, so as to continue with the pink theme. :o)

Roses, apple blossoms, rose buds, and primroses
I learned how to make roses, apple blossoms, rose buds, and primroses in my cake decorating class tonight! I plan to practice making more of them in the coming week. There are only two weeks left in this class, then I can either take one week off, and then start the fondant classes, or I can take the one-week class in between class #2 and class #3 and take the Tall Cakes class, where I learn how to make a three tier cake! I am still debating on if I want to take that class or not. It might be fun!

Cookie Monster!!
Today, I decided I wanted to make a Cookie Monster cupcake. Well, I decided a few days ago, but I finally went to the store today and bought some cookies and other things so that I could finally make them! Cookie Monster was super fun to make and I think he turned out pretty well!
Next on my agenda: Elmo, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch!

Pompom flowers, shaggy mums, and ribbon roses
I recently learned how to make some new types of flowers in my cake decorating class. These are my first attempts! I am hoping to get more practice with these later this week after I buy more supplies for icing and cupcakes.

Birthdays are a HOOT
One of my good friends LOVES owls. I think they’re neat, so I thought I’d make her some owl cupcakes for her birthday last week. Turns out, they are a work in progress. But, they sure did taste good. In the future, I need to find another yellow candy for the nose, something for a mouth, and I also need to figure out a way to make the white part of the Oreo pure white, not Oreo crumbs still in it. But, my friend loved them and they were delicious, so they weren’t all that bad. :o)

Fourth of July in South Carolina
I went to South Carolina to visit family for the Fourth of July. While there, my 13- and 11-year-old cousins decided they wanted to help me make a Fourth of July cupcake cake that looked like an American flag. I had limited supplies, as I did not bring food coloring or something to put them cupcakes out on for display, but I made do with what I had and they helped decorate with red and white candy. In the future, I will be able to make the cake a better red and blue, but this was a nice treat to make and enjoyable to make with my younger cousins.
